Weight Lifting Questions
This page has some general Frequently Asked Questions - and their answers. I will update this page as more questions come in from people wanting to know more info.
1) If I am sore should I still work that muscle group?
Answer: If your muscles are sore it is a good sign that they are getting a good workout and are developing further. You should still work on them however decrease the weights that you are working with on those muscles until they feel fine again.
2) What If I want to decrease my body fat and gain muscle mass, how would I do that?
Answer: Decreasing body fat is as simple as doing cardiovascular exercises such as running, biking, swimming, etc and of course a healthy diet rich in fruits and veggies. I myself just finished a 3-day apples-only diet, in order to get rid of excess toxins in my body and start on a new sport supplement. I must say I feel a lot better now after doing that. Gaining muscle mass is basically using weights in a way where you can only do 8 reps of an exercise before your muscle gets tired. This is described in more detail here.
3) Is working one muscle group intensively once a week enough?
Answer: That depends on your goals really. If you want to just stay fit than that is enough. If you want to gain a lot of muscle mass than you'd need to work harder. I work out 3 days a week - sometimes 4 depending on how free I am from other things, and this gives me a good, steady increase in muscle mass.
